Onions oh my!

Green onions have arrived! Nothing beats a fresh green onion topping off a favorite dish. We eat them on everything because they have such a wonderfully mild flavor. Our other onion varieties are growing well and we hope to have some reds and sweet onions by early to mid July.

Onions are a very time intensive crop for us. They are the first seeds we plant each year in February, trimmed multiple times before being transplanted, then each of the thousands of individual onions get hand planted, and don't get me started about weeding! The end result is so worth it though...just look at these beauties.

This video was taken a few weeks ago right after planting. This is half of our crop. Looks nice before the weeds start coming in. ;)

You will find green onions in the Farm Box this week. Here's this weeks contents:

  • 1 Head of Broccoli

  • 2 Cucumbers

  • 1 Bag of Mixed Lettuce

  • 1 Bundle of Kale

  • 1 Bundle of Leaf Broccoli

  • 1 Bunch of Green Onions

  • 2 Herb Plants - Oregano & Sweet Thai Basil

Last note: We still have a few Gallon Tomatoes available at a deeper discount. $8 a piece.

Also, check out our other veggie starts, flowers, and herbs!

Coleus is a great all season grower and is beautiful in Fall Planters! (Loves the shade so great for the North facing side of the house or under a porch. :)
